Amazon's Talent Development Journey team is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer II to join their mission of enhancing Amazonians' career development. This role is integral to the Talent Development ecosystem (TDE), which focuses on empowering human judgment and delivering personalized learning experiences at scale.

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you'll lead the development of metrics, reporting, visualizations, and predictive analytics to support strategic decision-making. The position requires strong business acumen and the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable insights. You'll work closely with product managers to research employee behaviors and develop automated reporting systems that measure the impact of product enhancements on employee onboarding.

The team maintains a highly collaborative, fast-moving culture focused on creating a seamless, intelligent onboarding experience for new hires. You'll be instrumental in leveraging data to uncover insights that improve the new hire experience at Amazon. The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $89,600 to $185,000 based on location, plus additional benefits including equity and sign-on payments.

This position combines technical expertise with business strategy, requiring proficiency in SQL, Python, and various BI tools. You'll work with large-scale datasets, build ETL pipelines, and create sophisticated dashboards while collaborating with stakeholders across the organization. Responsibilities For Business Intelligence Engineer II, Talent Development

  • Interface with business owners to gather requirements and deliver reports or analysis
  • Write SQL to retrieve and analyze data from database tables
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards
  • Make large and/or complex data more accessible through BI dashboards and applications
  • Analyze business information and uncover trends to develop insights
  • Establish scalable, automated processes for tracking and reporting
  • Design, implement, and support platform providing ad hoc access to large datasets

Requirements For Business Intelligence Engineer II, Talent Development

Python
  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
