Description For Critical Infrastructure Data Center Regional Electrical Engineer (Field Engineering)

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Field Engineer to join their team responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. As an Amazon Field Engineer, you will be the technical expert providing comprehensive support to AWS Data Centers throughout their lifecycle. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic planning, requiring you to interface with diverse teams including operations, design, and construction.

The position offers a unique blend of office and field work, where you'll lead projects to expand and optimize our data center fleet to meet growing customer demands. You'll be responsible for critical tasks such as design reviews, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and developing innovative solutions for AWS's data centers. The role requires strong engineering judgment, attention to detail, and excellent project management skills.

Responsibilities For Critical Infrastructure Data Center Regional Electrical Engineer (Field Engineering)

  • Provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through maintenance
  • Perform design and equipment submittal review for new Data Centers
  • Troubleshoot and conduct Root Cause Analysis for site/equipment failures
  • Support operational issues with training and procedure reviews
  • Own conceptual design for data center upgrades and design-solutions
  • Interface with internal teams to promote standards
  • Develop innovative solutions for AWS's data centers
  • Lead engineering audits including on-site visits
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects

Requirements For Critical Infrastructure Data Center Regional Electrical Engineer (Field Engineering)

Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Coursework in commercial/industrial power systems and/or mechanical systems
  • Leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Experience using web-based software tools for calculation and data processing
  • Strong Engineering Judgement
  • Detail and data oriented
  • Experience managing engineering projects and consultants
