Description For Software Engineer III, Pixel Display System

Google's Pixel team is at the forefront of mobile innovation, focusing on creating the world's most helpful mobile experience. As a Software Engineer III in the Pixel Display System team, you'll be instrumental in shaping the future of Pixel devices. You'll work on critical display technologies for Google's Pixel phones, collaborating with Android Platform, Pixel Hardware, and Google Chips teams.

The role involves working across the entire display stack, from bootloader drivers to the settings app, and managing hardware modules from Google Tensor accelerators to display panels. You'll be responsible for implementing cutting-edge features like variable refresh rate, color management, HDR, and image enhancement methods.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work with Google's in-house mobile System on Chip (Tensor) and contribute to transformative user experiences. You'll be part of a team that combines Google's best AI, software, and hardware capabilities to create global smartphones that impact users worldwide.

Responsibilities For Software Engineer III, Pixel Display System

  • Drive complete development cycles of new pixel display projects, from requirements and design through implementation and establishing test plans
  • Architect and implement features such as variable refresh rate, colour management and calibration, High dynamic range (HDR), image enhancement methods
  • Collaborate closely with Android Platform teams on enabling new generations of Pixel
  • Develop the team's infrastructure by implementing new systems in areas such as telemetry, on-device diagnostics, and updatability
  • Develop expertise in display technologies and System on a Chip (SoC), and productize them in future Pixel devices

Requirements For Software Engineer III, Pixel Display System

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting
  • 2 years of experience with Android application development
