Description For Site Reliability Engineer (SRE 1)

Granicus, a leading GovTech company, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Site Reliability Engineer (SRE 1) to join their dynamic IT team. With a mission to transform the Govtech industry, Granicus serves over 5,500 government agencies and 300 million citizen subscribers across the U.S., U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

As an SRE 1, you'll work closely with software engineers to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of Granicus' services. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in site reliability engineering and gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Using Granicus applications and understanding their impact on government-citizen interactions
  • Owning escalated issues and problems reported by customers, internal teams, and monitoring systems
  • Troubleshooting application, service, and system issues both independently and collaboratively
  • Documenting and escalating user stories, bugs, and defects
  • Establishing and maintaining SLI, SLO, and SLA targets for applications and services
  • Implementing software development best practices to automate solutions and eliminate toil
  • Providing on-call production support
  • Ensuring Granicus information security

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A basic understanding of Linux/Unix systems, networking, and cloud services (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Ruby
  • Exposure to monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Elastic, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk)
  • Experience with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An eagerness to learn and improve
  • Minimum two years of experience in an SRE, DevOps, or Software Engineering role
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer)
