Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Trust & Safety

Patreon is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join their Trust & Safety team. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply advanced machine learning techniques to enhance the safety and integrity of Patreon's platform.

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sophisticated ML models to detect and prevent various forms of abuse, fraud, and harmful content. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to understand complex trust and safety challenges and design innovative solutions using cutting-edge ML technologies.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing state-of-the-art machine learning models for content moderation, fraud detection, and user behavior analysis
• Collaborating with data scientists, product managers, and other engineers to define and prioritize trust and safety initiatives
• Developing scalable ML pipelines and infrastructure to support real-time decision making
• Continuously improving model performance through experimentation, feature engineering, and algorithm optimization
• Staying current with the latest advancements in ML and AI, particularly in areas relevant to trust and safety

The ideal candidate will have:

• 8+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, with a focus on large-scale applications
• Strong expertise in Python, distributed computing, and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
• Experience with natural language processing, computer vision, and anomaly detection techniques
• A track record of successfully deploying ML models in production environments
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to tackle complex, ambiguous challenges
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Patreon offers a competitive salary range of $221K – $299K, along with a comprehensive benefits package. This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work remotely, with occasional in-office presence required in either San Francisco or New York.
