Description For Mechanical Engineer (Starlink Ground Antennas)

SpaceX is revolutionizing space technology with the mission of enabling human life on Mars. As part of this vision, they're deploying Starlink, the world's most advanced broadband internet system serving over 4M+ users globally. The Mechanical Engineer role focuses on Starlink Ground Antennas (Gateways), which are crucial for connecting ground-based internet to satellites.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge hardware that must perform in extreme conditions, from the Arctic Circle to the desert. You'll be responsible for designing complex systems incorporating advanced composites, RF vacuum electronics, and high-precision pointing mechanisms. The role demands expertise in design, analysis, and hands-on manufacturing.

As a mechanical engineer, you'll own projects from conception through high-volume production and deployment. This includes rapid design iteration, system-level optimization, and establishing efficient production processes. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop novel manufacturing procedures and ensure product quality.

SpaceX offers competitive compensation, including potential stock options and comprehensive benefits. The company culture emphasizes innovation, rapid iteration, and extreme ownership. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the world's largest network of ground stations while advancing space technology and global connectivity.

The ideal candidate will have experience with CAD/FEA software, RF or antenna hardware, and a track record of fast-paced hardware development. Strong communication skills and the ability to make decisions with limited data are essential. This position offers the chance to work at the forefront of space technology while making a tangible impact on global internet infrastructure.
