Responsibilities For Turbomachinery Engineer (Raptor)

  • Design, build and test turbopumps for liquid fueled rocket engines and other rocket or spacecraft systems
  • Own critical turbomachinery components and be responsible for every aspect of the turbomachinery design
  • Perform hydrodynamic sizing and flowpath design for impellers and diffusers
  • Ensure detailed mechanical analysis is performed on all turbopump components/systems
  • Devise accurate models and develop new methodologies for turbopump performance
  • Interface with production team to translate designs into flight hardware
  • Work with other system teams for optimal integration
  • Own secondary flow analysis and design
  • Support component and assembly testing
  • Lead resolution of turbopump issues during development/qualification testing
  • Support ongoing design improvements to reduce cost and lead time

Requirements For Turbomachinery Engineer (Raptor)

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of experience in turbomachinery design
  • Strong understanding of pump hydrodynamic/aerodynamic design
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics and compressible flow
  • Experience with turbomachinery manufacturing
  • Experience with Siemens NX or other CAD packages
  • Experience with Ansys
  • Must be U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee (ITAR requirements)
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed
