3E, a leading renewable energy consultancy, is seeking a Sales Engineer to drive technical sales and client success in Sub-Saharan Africa. This role combines technical expertise with commercial acumen, focusing on proposal development, tender management, and client engagement. Based in Cape Town, the position involves potential national and international travel, primarily focusing on Technical Consultancy Services with complementary SaaS sales responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will join a fast-growing international company with projects in over 100 countries and a team representing 35+ nationalities. The role is split between Sales Engineering (70%) and Business Development (30%), requiring expertise in renewable energy systems including solar, wind, and BESS. You'll be responsible for managing complex tenders, developing technical-economic proposals, and driving business growth in Southern, Western, Central, and Eastern African regions.

Responsibilities For Business Development/Sales Engineer - (Proposals & Tender Management)

  • Prepare technical-economic proposals for private/public tenders, RFPs, and RFIs
  • Lead tender management and submission processes
  • Ensure compliance with tender requirements and deadlines
  • Identify opportunities in solar and wind market for consultancy services
  • Attend conferences and engage with stakeholders
  • Lead and mentor business development team
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for business development
  • Act as technical advisor for client solutions
  • Manage client relationships and identify upselling opportunities
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Legal teams on utility-scale projects

Requirements For Business Development/Sales Engineer - (Proposals & Tender Management)

  • Engineering degree (Electrical, Sales, Renewable Energy, or related field)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (French/Portuguese is a plus)
  • 3+ years in technical sales or sales engineering
  • 1+ years in renewable energy sector experience
  • Experience in writing proposals and managing national/international tenders
  • Deep understanding of REIPPPP and utility-scale project lifecycle
  • Project management skills
  • Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot) and tender platforms
  • Extensive network in renewable energy sector
  • Strong technical communication and proposal writing skills
