As a Backend Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the platform that delivers comprehensive financial, credit, legal & ESG analysis. The position offers technical leadership opportunities, working with Python, Flask/FastAPI, and PostgreSQL in an AWS cloud environment.
You'll be responsible for designing systems, implementing APIs, and leading development efforts while mentoring junior developers. The role involves working with complex financial data modeling, environmental data capture, and ML/AI prediction services. The platform serves major clients including 9 of the top 10 Investment Banks, leading Asset Managers, Hedge Funds, and Law Firms.

Responsibilities For Backend Engineer
- Technical leadership on projects, defining and designing systems
- Write code and lead others in delivering new service functionality
- Implement APIs, data routing/processing and automation mechanisms
- Development on backend services and web application hosted tools
- Run code reviews and mentor junior developers
- Improve codebase through automation, refactoring and documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
Requirements For Backend Engineer
- Experience with Python and its web frameworks (Flask and FastAPI with Typing)
- Strong experience delivering APIs, Service Oriented Architecture
- Good working knowledge of SQL statements for retrieving data
- Ability to plan and reason about software architecture
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Experience in writing testable, maintainable code and conducting code reviews
