Description For Chief Engineer

ABM, a leading facility solutions provider with a $6.4 billion revenue and 130,000+ employees, is seeking a Chief Engineer for their Class-A High-Rise location in Bellevue, WA. This role represents a unique opportunity to join a well-established company with over a century of experience since its founding in 1909.

The position offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $55 to $60 per hour ($114,400 - $124,800 annually) and comes with a comprehensive benefits package. As Chief Engineer, you'll be responsible for overseeing all maintenance and repair activities of mechanical and electrical systems within the property, with the primary goal of maximizing system life and reliability.

The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of progressive operations experience in commercial office buildings, particularly in a chief or supervisory role. You'll need strong technical expertise across HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, combined with excellent leadership and communication skills. The role requires various certifications, including state/local Stationary Engineer licenses and universal level refrigerant recovery license.

Key responsibilities include supervising maintenance operations, managing staff, ensuring OSHA compliance, budget management, and maintaining strong client relationships. You'll work closely with multiple departments to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction while maintaining the property to the highest standards.

Responsibilities For Chief Engineer

  • Supervise maintenance operations and physical condition of the property
  • Maintain ongoing maintenance operation for property systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical
  • Inspect and evaluate physical condition of the asset regularly
  • Work with other departments to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Manage material ordering and work assignments
  • Oversee compliance with OSHA standards
  • Supervise and motivate maintenance staff
  • Ensure property compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Participate in safety meetings and management meetings
  • Manage budgets and assist in capital budgeting

Requirements For Chief Engineer

Linux
  • 5+ years of engineering experience at chief or supervisory level
  • Strong employee relation skills, coaching skills, and training skills
  • Highest-level relevant state/local license for Stationary Engineer and/or HVAC
  • Universal level refrigerant recovery license
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Computer skills and building automation systems experience
  • OSHA ACM awareness training certification
  • Working knowledge of energy conservation
  • Experience in commercial office buildings
