Description For Building Engineer

ABM, a leading provider of integrated facility solutions, is seeking a skilled Building Engineer to join their team. The Building Engineer supports the designated leadership with the daily operations of all building systems. This includes hard surface maintenance and repair, basic carpentry and metal work, operating, maintaining and repairing all facility system equipment associated with HVAC operations and mechanical and electrical systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responding to emergency calls promptly and efficiently
  • Performing electrical repairs, such as wiring, fuses, and fixtures
  • Troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems
  • Conducting plumbing repairs, including replacing pipes, clearing drains, and repairing toilets and faucets
  • Performing carpentry tasks, such as door and lock repairs, drywall patching, painting, and floorcovering
  • Troubleshooting equipment and performing routine maintenance
  • Working with CMMS computer management systems

The ideal candidate should have strong mechanical and technical skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, and attention to detail. They should also have basic knowledge of fire systems and their operation.

This is a full-time, on-site position with a shift of Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, plus on-call emergencies as needed. Responsibilities For Building Engineer

  • Respond to emergency calls promptly and efficiently
  • Perform electrical repairs, such as wiring, fuses, and fixtures
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems
  • Conduct plumbing repairs, including replacing pipes, clearing drains, and repairing toilets and faucets
  • Perform carpentry tasks, such as door and lock repairs, drywall patching, painting, and floorcovering
  • Troubleshoot equipment and perform routine maintenance
  • Work with CMMS computer management systems
  • Lift and move up to 75 pounds as needed
  • Carry necessary tools and a communication radio while on site
  • Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Follow verbal and written instructions accurately

Requirements For Building Engineer

  • At least three years of experience in maintenance or a related field
  • Strong mechanical and technical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Basic knowledge of fire systems
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment
  • Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass criminal and drug screenings
  • Obtain EPA certification within three months of employment
  • Obtain OSHA 10 certification within three months of employment
