Description For Building Engineer

ABM, a leading provider of integrated facility solutions, is seeking a Building Engineer to support the daily operations of all building systems. This role combines technical expertise with hands-on facility management, focusing on HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems maintenance.

The position offers competitive compensation at $44.36/hour ($92,269 annually) and includes a comprehensive benefits package with health insurance, 401(k) with immediate vesting, disability coverage, and paid time off. Working Monday through Friday on day shift, you'll be based in Los Angeles, contributing to the efficient operation of building infrastructure.

As a Building Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing critical systems including boilers, refrigeration units, air compressors, electrical motors, and plumbing systems. The role requires strong technical knowledge of HVAC components, ability to read blueprints, and relevant state/local licenses. Experience with building automation systems and various certifications, including EPA 608, are valued.

Responsibilities For Building Engineer

  • Operate, maintain, and repair all boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, and steam distribution systems
  • Operate, maintain and repair refrigerant compressors and cooling systems
  • Maintain and repair electrical power distribution systems
  • Operate and maintain air compressors and distribution lines
  • Maintain and repair sanitary sewer systems
  • Maintain all equipment per the Preventive Maintenance Program
  • Maintain proper operation during seasonal changes
  • Maintain Life/Safety and security systems
  • Respond to customer requests and submit work orders

Requirements For Building Engineer

Linux
  • Formal knowledge of HVAC Components
  • Experience commensurate with the specific facility
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Highest-level relevant state/local license for Stationary Engineer and/or HVAC
  • Universal level refrigerant recovery license
  • Computer skills and building automation systems experience
  • OSHA ACM awareness training certification
  • EPA 608 Certification (preferred)
