Description For Chief Engineer

ABM, a leading provider of integrated facility solutions, is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee all activities and staff related to the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical systems within a property. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring maximum life and reliability of all systems, including HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating and maintaining HVAC and MEP equipment
  • Responding to tenant service requests and maintaining positive tenant relations
  • Performing preventive maintenance and repairs on various building systems
  • Maintaining equipment logs and coordinating with vendors for specialized maintenance
  • Responding to emergency situations and addressing customer concerns
  • Assisting with tenant improvement plans and inspecting construction areas
  • Coordinating fire alarm and sprinkler system maintenance
  • Troubleshooting and making recommendations for operational improvements

The Chief Engineer must be flexible, willing to perform various duties, and ensure compliance with expense guidelines, company policies, and governing codes. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and customer service orientation.

Responsibilities For Chief Engineer

  • Operate, maintain, and log all HVAC and MEP equipment
  • Complete tenant service requests and maintain positive tenant relations
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Maintain equipment logs and coordinate with vendors
  • Respond to emergency situations and customer concerns
  • Review and inspect elevator maintenance
  • Coordinate fire alarm and sprinkler system maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and make recommendations for operational improvements

Requirements For Chief Engineer

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 5-7 years of building maintenance experience or commensurate experience in a trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC)
  • Experience with automated building management systems
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs of equipment
