Description For Infrastructure & Capital Projects – Resident Engineer (Highway)

Accenture's Industry X, Infrastructure & Capital Projects division is seeking a Resident Engineer for highway projects. This role is crucial in reinventing how capital projects are planned, designed, managed, and executed. The position combines deep hands-on design and construction experience with modern technology and AI to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

The Resident Engineer will be responsible for providing comprehensive inspection and quality assurance on highway and roadway construction projects. Key responsibilities include ensuring work compliance with plans and specifications, coordinating with contractors and utilities, managing project documentation, and overseeing structural inspections for bridges, foundations, and drainage structures.

The ideal candidate must be a California-licensed Professional Engineer with at least 8 years of highway construction inspection experience. They should have strong expertise in structural mechanics, materials science, and practical experience with Caltrans projects. The role requires both technical excellence and leadership abilities to direct subordinate inspectors and make critical field decisions.

Responsibilities For Infrastructure & Capital Projects – Resident Engineer (Highway)

  • Provide inspection and quality assurance on highway and roadway construction projects
  • Determine if completed work follows plans and specifications
  • Coordinate work with contractor and public utilities agencies
  • Maintain project records and reports
  • Coordinate with general contractor and negotiate change orders
  • Assist in inspections for compliance with contract plans and specifications
  • Make grade, alignment, quantity, falsework, and shoring calculations
  • Prepare contract change orders, estimates, and progress pay estimates
  • Monitor and track contractor progress
  • Coordinate with project team, Construction Staking and Material Testing CMCs

Requirements For Infrastructure & Capital Projects – Resident Engineer (Highway)

  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California
  • Minimum 1 construction highway project for or on Caltrans
  • Minimum 8 years experience conducting roadway and highway construction inspection
  • Minimum 3 years experience with stress analysis, structural mechanics, and strength of materials
  • Minimum 3 years experience with physical characteristics of roadway and bridge construction materials
