Description For Principal Data Engineer - Geospatial Platforms

AiDash is a Series C climate tech startup making critical infrastructure industries climate-resilient and sustainable using satellites and AI. As a Principal Data Engineer for Geospatial Platforms, you'll play a crucial role in building, optimizing, and scaling data pipelines that ingest, clean, and transform vast amounts of satellite imagery and enterprise data. You'll work closely with Data Science and Engineering teams to implement solutions for complex business challenges while ensuring robust, efficient, and scalable data infrastructure. Your responsibilities include designing scalable platforms for managing large-scale geospatial data, optimizing data management, ensuring data quality and integrity, proposing big data solutions, collaborating across teams, leading cross-functional optimization initiatives, staying ahead of industry trends, and providing technical leadership. The ideal candidate should have at least 12 years of professional experience, with 5+ years in data engineering, expertise in geospatial data processing, cloud technologies, and programming languages like Java or Python. Responsibilities For Principal Data Engineer - Geospatial Platforms

  • Design and implement scalable platforms to manage large-scale geospatial data
  • Ensure efficient ingestion, storage, and processing of diverse data types
  • Implement validation, cleaning, deduplication, and quality control measures
  • Architect solutions for hosting and processing imagery, LiDAR, and vector data
  • Partner with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to align platforms with business objectives
  • Drive efforts to enhance code efficiency, runtime performance, and resource utilization
  • Monitor emerging technologies, tools, and best practices
  • Offer guidance to product engineers in building scalable, reliable systems

Requirements For Principal Data Engineer - Geospatial Platforms

  • Minimum of 12 years of overall professional experience, including at least 5 years in data engineering
  • Experience in building platforms for storing and processing large volumes of geospatial data
  • Hands-on experience in designing and implementing image processing systems
  • Experience in building and maintaining modern data pipelines in cloud or hybrid environments
  • Strong experience with big data technologies, database systems, geospatial toolkits and ETL tools
  • Strong experience with modern data cataloging and warehousing technologies
  • Expertise in at least one programming language, such as Scala, Java, or Python
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, data warehousing solutions, and data architecture strategies
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Leadership experience with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
