Description For Engineering Manager, Payments Compliance

The Payments organization at Airbnb enables people anywhere in the world to frictionlessly exchange money with easy to use payments services. It is a core strategy to fulfill Airbnb's mission to belong anywhere. We are building a world-class payments platform that moves billions of dollars, in 191 countries, with 75+ currencies, through a complex ecosystem of payments partners.

As the Engineering Manager for the Identity Foundation team within the Compliance organization, you'll be leading an accomplished team to design and build the systems and solutions which are fundamental to the design for how Compliance, and Airbnb, will function for the next decade.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting and communicating strategy and direction of the team
  • Refining team processes and work divisions
  • Building relationships across peers and stakeholders in India and the US
  • Collaborating with organization Staff and Sr. Staff engineers
  • Coaching and mentoring the team
  • Creating plans for addressing technical debt & quality
  • Participating in India site level and global initiatives

Requirements:

  • 3-5+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, with 9+ years of industry experience (BS/Masters) or 6+ years (PhD)
  • Experience leading teams in large scale tech transformations
  • Expertise in managing dependencies across parallel work tracks
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring ICs
  • Ability to establish priorities independently
  • Track record in Technical Quality practices
  • Experience managing distributed teams
  • Previous experience in Compliance programs is a plus

This position is India - Remote Eligible, with occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites as agreed with your manager.
