Description For Manager, Engineering - Web Platform

Airbnb, a global leader in the travel and hospitality space founded in 2007, is seeking a Manager for their Web Platform team. This role is crucial in empowering Airbnb's 400+ web engineers working within their TypeScript monorepo. The Web Platform team's mission is to provide foundational libraries, frameworks, and tools for development, testing, and release, enabling high-velocity and quality feature delivery.

As the manager, you'll lead initiatives around testing frameworks, developer environments, bundler implementations, CI jobs, client libraries for observability, and web service frameworks. The role requires strong technical leadership, with projects directly impacting developer productivity and experience. The team has demonstrated success with significant projects like Bazel adoption, React upgrades, and TypeScript migration at scale.

The ideal candidate brings 2+ years of management experience, particularly with Staff+ and Senior engineers in a distributed team setting. Technical expertise in frontend infrastructure, build systems, and developer tooling is essential. You'll be responsible for shaping team strategy, managing stakeholder relationships, and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
