Airbnb is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their Quality and Merchandising team. This role is at the forefront of building a company-wide user-centric platform that powers high-quality listings and helps hosts better merchandise them to guests. As a technical leader, you'll drive the technical vision and architect ML-driven systems that provide intelligence for millions of listings quality and merchandising insights.
The position offers a unique opportunity to work on large-scale ML applications, focusing on improving user experience and driving organic bookings. You'll be responsible for the complete lifecycle of problem-solving, from prototyping to leading a team of talented engineers through multiple releases. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams including Search, Listings, Communication & Connectivity.
The ideal candidate will be a respected ML modeling expert with strong technical leadership skills. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies including TensorFlow, PyTorch, Kubernetes, and various big data tools. The role requires deep expertise in machine learning best practices, from feature engineering to A/B testing, and experience with large-scale software applications.

Responsibilities For Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Quality and Merchandising
- Provide critical input and influence technical direction
- Collaborate with stakeholders to adopt team goals and roadmaps
- Work with cross functional partners to design and deliver high-quality systems
- Design and implement ML models to drive organic bookings and improve user experience
- Lead efforts to architect, prototype, build and launch solutions for host or listing success
- Mentor engineers on day to day basis
Requirements For Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Quality and Merchandising
- 5+ years of industry experience in applied Machine Learning, inclusive MS or PhD in relevant fields
- Strong programming (Python/Java) and data engineering skills
- Deep understanding of Machine Learning best practices
- Experience with technologies like Tensorflow, PyTorch, Kubernetes, Spark, Airflow, Kafka
- Industry experience building end-to-end Machine Learning infrastructure
- Exposure to architectural patterns of large, high-scale software applications
- Prior knowledge of ML Applications in ranking, recommendation or personalization domain is highly desirable
