Description For Staff Security Engineer, EMEA

Join Airbnb's Threat Detection and Response (TDR) team as a Staff Security Engineer in EMEA. This role is crucial in defining and executing vision for threat detection and incident response capabilities. As a senior engineer, you'll have direct impact building and optimizing security capabilities while mentoring team members.

The TDR team focuses on automating security detection, responding to incidents, and building capabilities that support the incident lifecycle. This front-line team detects, investigates, and responds to security threats and malicious activity. You'll be working with cross-functional partners to improve overall security, driven by investigation learnings and root cause analysis.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include leading complex security investigations, developing scalable tools, mentoring team members in forensic analysis, and handling critical incidents. You'll design and optimize advanced threat detection systems, coordinate during large-scale incidents, and represent security in executive discussions.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of technical experience, with 8+ years specifically in incident response, including host and cloud forensics. You should excel at leading in complex situations, working collaboratively under pressure, and have strong organizational skills. Experience with Python, AWS, and SQL is valuable.

This remote-friendly position is available in Germany, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, offering an opportunity to make a significant impact on Airbnb's global security infrastructure while working with a world-class team.
