Staff Software Engineer, Emerging Defenses

Airbnb, founded in 2007, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Trust Emerging Defense team. This role focuses on building new products and defenses for unattended risks and attacks, ensuring safety and privacy for Airbnb's global community of hosts and guests.

As a staff engineer, you'll lead a team of engineers working on creating the safest communication platform across various mediums including phone, VoIP, SMS, in-app chat, and video conferencing. Your work will directly impact the safety and privacy of millions of Airbnb users worldwide while keeping fraudsters off the platform.

The role requires expertise in building scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems and experience with machine learning. You'll collaborate with cross-functional partners including data scientists, product managers, and operations teams to identify opportunities for fraud detection and mitigation. The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $204,000 to $260,000 USD, along with the flexibility of remote work within the United States.
