Airbnb is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Network/Edge Experience team within the Cloud Infrastructure organization. This role focuses on building and maintaining the critical network infrastructure that connects Airbnb's global user base. The position involves working with cutting-edge cloud native network technologies from Layer4 to Layer7, contributing to key infrastructure components that enable worldwide connectivity. The team is responsible for the entire production network infrastructure, including traffic proxy, load balancing, service mesh, and network security systems.

As a member of this team, you'll have the opportunity to influence major infrastructure initiatives such as global traffic load balancing, disaster recovery, and edge security. Airbnb's collaboration with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) means you'll be working closely with open source communities and peer companies to solve cloud native engineering challenges at scale.

The ideal candidate brings 12+ years of infrastructure experience, with expertise in running large-scale edge systems and protecting against security threats. Requirements For Staff Software Engineer, Network - Edge

Kubernetes
  • BS, MS or Ph.D. in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 12+ years of relevant work experience in infrastructure
  • Experience successfully delivering large scale multi-year roadmap with external dependencies
  • Experience running large scale edge systems in native Public Cloud
  • Experience protecting websites against DDoS, Bot, and scrapers
  • Strong ownership and experience building and operating high-scale, distributed systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong problem solver with team leadership experience
  • Passionate about privacy, security, availability, operational excellence
