Description For Technical Support Engineer - API

Airbnb, founded in 2007, has grown to connect over 4 million Hosts with more than 1 billion guest arrivals globally. The API Integrations team at Airbnb is seeking a Technical Support Engineer - API to join their community. This role involves working closely with software engineers, product teams, and commercial teams to provide technical advice to a diverse group of software partners.

As an API Support Engineer, you'll be the primary technical contact for software partners worldwide. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Triaging, prioritizing, and troubleshooting issues reported by software partners
  2. Using various tools and logs to make informed decisions
  3. Providing emergency support during on-call rotations
  4. Liaising between partners and Airbnb's internal teams
  5. Testing and documenting new API features
  6. Advocating for software partners in product decisions
  7. Fostering strong connections with partners
  8. Creating and updating user-facing documentation

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical support role
  • Experience with REST APIs and related tools
  • Understanding of coding concepts and familiarity with programming languages
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities For Technical Support Engineer - API

Requirements For Technical Support Engineer - API

Java
JavaScript
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar customer-facing technical support role
  • Experience working with REST APIs and related tools like PAW, Postman, Kibana, Grafana, Datadog, YAML, etc.
  • Understanding of coding concepts and familiarity with programming languages, such as Java and JavaScript
  • Understanding and writing complex SQL queries
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Enjoy puzzle-solving, tinkering, testing and experimenting with APIs
