Description For Special Equipment Mechanical Engineer

Ajax Systems is seeking a bold and goal-oriented Special Equipment Mechanical Engineer to join their Automation Department. The ideal candidate will dive into the wonderful world of hardware development, apply their experience in practice, and learn and develop alongside other team members.

The Automation Department is responsible for ensuring that no Ajax sensor or control panel reaches the user without passing strict quality control using software and hardware developed by the team. Their goal is to ensure serial production of the maximum possible number of devices in a short time with specified quality criteria.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop equipment for testing, calibration, firmware, and assembly of devices in production, interacting with electronics developers
  • Coordinate projects with colleagues and customers, prepare design documentation for equipment scaling
  • Assemble and adjust the first 2-3 equipment samples
  • Provide design assistance in solving problems arising in serial production
  • Support and improve existing projects of test stands, fixtures, test blocks, and other non-standard equipment

Requirements:

  • Technical education
  • Experience in designing equipment for tests, assembly of various parts/components, or devices in assembly and their individual parts
  • Knowledge of principles and features of non-standard equipment design
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of materials and operations used in the design of non-standard equipment
  • Experience in prototype testing, troubleshooting, and resolving design issues
  • Ability to find a balance in price/quality/maintainability/ease of use of equipment
