Software Engineer - Internship

Akur8 is a young, dynamic, fast growing Insurtech that has been transforming insurance pricing and reserving with transparent Machine Learning since 2016. Akur8 leverages the power of Transparent Machine Learning and Predictive Analytics to inject game-changing speed, performance and reliability into insurers' pricing and reserving processes.

We're looking for a Software Engineer for a 6-month internship (end of studies), who has a strong interest in cloud-computing, mathematical modelling and AI to help build our complex data-processing solution.

As part of our Engineering team you will contribute to the implementation of our machine-learning models used for risk modelling, demand modelling and price optimization; implementation of the design interface and user flows; the architecture of our databases and interaction with the cloud.

Your typical missions will include:

• Reading and understanding the main cloud infrastructure components we use
• Familiarizing yourself with our tech stack
• Understanding our algorithms and business models
• Implementing an end-to-end feature leveraging new protocols and integrating your findings in production
• Implementing reliable tests, using continuous integration and exploiting AWS Cloud capabilities with our back-end engineers

Your work will consist of:

• Strong global understanding of our client needs and the business objective of our features
• Design, build, integrate and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable code

We are looking for innovative and rigorous contributors from engineering schools and universities in the field of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics.
