Description For Quality Engineer

Alarm.com for Business is seeking a Quality Engineer to support their Small & Medium Business solutions. This role involves validating hardware, back-end, and software, collaborating with product development teams to ensure products meet industry-governed quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a college degree, preferably 1-2 years of relevant experience, and advanced computer/technology skills. They should be comfortable with rapidly changing priorities and able to contribute to product roadmap success.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assuming an enterprising role and owning the testing process end-to-end
  • Working closely with product development teams and third-party hardware providers
  • Developing test plans and documenting defects
  • Triaging problems and proposing resolutions, particularly for hardware-software integration issues
  • Setting up and maintaining test environments
  • Applying test methodology in product certification and weekly deployments

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a relevant discipline
  • Attention to detail and ability to provide clear test steps
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, focusing on hardware
  • Self-motivated with strong technical and communication skills
  • Team-focused with a collaborative mindset

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of QA experience in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Quality Assurance Certifications (CQA/CQE)
  • Experience with hardware testing, particularly door controllers or similar systems
  • Strong knowledge of IoT/Home automation space
  • Proficiency in estimating testing schedules and optimizing test plans
