Description For Hardware Debug Engineer (Contract)

ALL.SPACE is at the forefront of satellite communications technology, developing cutting-edge satellite communications terminals. We are currently seeking a Hardware Debug Engineer to join our team during an exciting period of R&D and manufacturing scale-up. This role combines supporting established products in manufacturing and collaborating with the Hardware team on new PCBA designs. Based in our state-of-the-art Engineering campus in West Reading, the position offers a unique opportunity to work with complex PCB assemblies and advanced testing equipment.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in electronics testing and debugging, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. You'll be responsible for testing and troubleshooting PCB/PCBA assemblies, maintaining detailed documentation, and contributing to the improvement of test processes and equipment efficiency.

Responsibilities For Hardware Debug Engineer (Contract)

  • Testing production PCB/PCBA assemblies using automated functional test equipment
  • Diagnosing faults down to component level
  • Maintaining test records and documentation
  • Working with Hardware team to support bring up and debugging of new PCB/PCBA assemblies
  • Developing new automated test processes
  • Interpreting engineering documentation
  • Generating ECNs to update formal documentation
  • Creating Work Instructions for testing/repairing/modifying products

Requirements For Hardware Debug Engineer (Contract)

Python
  • 5+ years experience in electronics environment
  • Experience with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, signal generators, etc.)
  • Understanding of electronics standards (SPI, I2C, CAN)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Programming/scripting skills: Python, Matlab (desirable)
  • PCBA component level rework skills (desirable)
  • Ability to travel locally in UK
