The role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a globally distributed team of 150+ members spanning across the USA, Canada, Japan, Hungary, Nigeria, Brazil, and the United Kingdom. As a Staff Security Engineer, you'll report directly to the CISO and play a crucial role in protecting Alpaca's systems, data, and client assets from cyber threats.

Responsibilities For Staff Security Engineer

  • Lead and triage security events including potential security incidents
  • Conduct thorough analyses of events and implement corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain security incident response playbooks
  • Conduct Threat Hunting activities
  • Manage and optimize security tools and technologies
  • Enhance security of CI/CD pipeline
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering for secure system design
  • Lead vulnerability management and penetration testing activities
  • Foster cross-functional relationships with stakeholders
  • Assist with compliance audits and assessments
  • Conduct security research and develop new security tools

Requirements For Staff Security Engineer

Kubernetes
Linux
  • 6-8 years of mixed experience in security operations, engineering, and DevSecOps
  • Experience with SIEM/SOAR and automation solutions
  • Experience with cloud-centric environments and Kubernetes security
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Available for on-call rotations and after-hour responses
