Responsibilities For Principal Engineer - Power Systems

  • Provide technical leadership within Power Systems discipline
  • Work with Projects Engineering Manager and Project Management teams
  • Provide expert power systems advice to Senior Leadership
  • Lead resolution of significant engineering and business challenges
  • Develop long-term vision for transmission planning
  • Interface with industry, AESO, and other utilities
  • Facilitate staff development and mentorship
  • Guide development of technical standards
  • Perform duties of a Responsible Member under AltaLink's PPMP

Requirements For Principal Engineer - Power Systems

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer registration with APEGA
  • Minimum 10 years of transmission planning and system/facility studies experience
  • Broad knowledge of Alberta's Electricity Industry
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of industry standards (CSA, ANSI, IEC, IEEE)
  • Independent time management and organizational skills
