System Operations Engineer

AltaLink is seeking a System Operations Engineer for an 18-24 month term position. As a member of the Berkshire Hathaway Energy family, AltaLink delivers sustainable electricity to customers in Alberta. The role involves providing engineering support to the AltaLink Control Centre, developing solutions for real-time operational issues, and working with the Outage Scheduling team. Key responsibilities include performing outage studies, risk assessments, and coordinating with the independent system operator. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, be registered or eligible for registration with APEGA, and have experience in power systems analysis or operations. Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline
• Professional Engineer registration with APEGA or eligibility
• 4+ years of experience in power systems analysis or operations (asset)
• Experience with PSS/E or equivalent software
• Proficiency in power flow and voltage stability studies
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Creative problem-solving abilities
• Experience with Energy Management Systems (asset)
