Ring is seeking an Acoustic Engineer to join their global hardware development team, focusing on ensuring premium product quality standards and driving continuous improvement. This role is integral to the development of Ring's smart home and surveillance camera systems, combining expertise in acoustic system design, audio platform development, and quality tuning.

The position demands a skilled professional with 5+ years of experience in audio hardware design and validation, who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. You'll be responsible for various aspects of audio engineering, from component evaluation and acoustic simulation to sound quality tuning and verification. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams during architecture stages and requires expertise in audio test tools and circuitry validation.

Key technical requirements include experience with audio signal processing, DSP algorithms, and automated testing systems. Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Matlab is valuable, as is experience with audio test tools such as Audio Precision and Soundcheck. The ideal candidate will have a background in building high-volume consumer IoT products and understanding audio circuitry design.

  • Audio component evaluation and acoustic simulation
  • Audio component/acoustic design validation and reliability confirmation
  • Sound quality tuning, validation, and verification for products
  • Audio new platform bring-up, validation, and testing
  • Design test matrix items and define criteria for manufacturing
  • Support manufacturing audio test validation and troubleshooting
  • Conduct audio analysis to quantify sound quality
  • Develop general-purpose audio modules/libraries for test utility integration

Requirements For Acoustic Engineer, Ring Hardware

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or physics with emphasis in acoustics
  • 5+ years experience in Audio hardware design and validation
  • Hands-on experience in audio quality validation for mobile phones, surveillance camera, laptops, or smart speakers
  • Experience with Audio circuitry validation and PCBA evaluation
  • Experience with audio test tools like Audio Precision, Soundcheck, and ACQUA
