AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is seeking an Air Quality Engineer to join their Environmental team, playing a crucial role in managing air quality permitting and compliance for AWS data centers across the Americas. This position combines environmental expertise with cloud infrastructure, offering an opportunity to impact AWS's global operations while ensuring environmental compliance.

The role involves leading air permitting initiatives, managing relationships with regulatory agencies and consultants, and developing environmental programs that balance AWS's growth with air quality regulations. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies in data center operations while contributing to Amazon's sustainability goals.

As an Air Quality Engineer, you'll collaborate with diverse teams across AWS, including energy, design engineering, public policy, and legal teams. You'll be responsible for reviewing environmental requirements for new power generation technologies, identifying permitting implications, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Responsibilities For Air Quality Engineer, AWS Environmental

  • Manage preparation of air permit applications for new construction, modifications, amendments, and renewals
  • Manage contracts and relationships with environmental consultants and testing firms
  • Manage regulatory agency interactions for permit evaluation and processing
  • Review environmental permitting requirements for new power generation technologies
  • Identify permitting implications of power generation and supply to data centers
  • Work collaboratively with various teams on large scale projects
  • Function as a leader for air permitting work in AMER region

Requirements For Air Quality Engineer, AWS Environmental

Kubernetes
  • 3+ years with air quality regulatory assessments and air emissions evaluations
  • 3+ years with air permitting at local, state, and federal levels
  • 1+ years with engine specific regulations including 40 CFR 63 Subpart ZZZZ and 40 CFR 60 Subpart IIII
  • Experience with data center permitting and compliance
  • Knowledge of/experience with natural gas and hydrogen based energy generation
