Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Engineering student to join our Hardware Development Engineering team for a Co-op assignment. This is a 6-month co-op position from January to June 2025, working full-time (40 hours/week) in the Greater Boston Area, with access to state-of-the-art robotics testing labs and manufacturing facilities in Westborough and North Reading, MA.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting field failure investigations through the CAPA process
- Identifying and implementing corrective and preventive actions
- Supporting the standard work of the Quality, Reliability and Failure analysis team
- Conducting statistical analysis of field performance data and KPIs
- Performing hardware root cause analysis in the lab
- Supporting the quality and reliability of Amazon Robotics products deployed across Amazon's global operations
- Partnering with development teams to drive lessons learned into new product designs
- Collaborating with internal teams and customers to prioritize opportunities for product improvement
The ideal candidate should have strong mechanical aptitude, enjoy problem-solving, and potentially handle multiple parallel tasks. This position offers an opportunity to work with senior engineering staff on existing and new tools, mechanisms, modules, and systems.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in and pursuing a Bachelor's (or higher) in an engineering discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar
- Strong problem-solving and debugging experience related to hardware, software, subsystems, and firmware
- Experience in testing electronics and/or electro-mechanical products in a lab setting
- Proficiency with Minitab, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
- Must have at least one semester/term/quarter of school left to complete after the end of the co-op
- Must be eligible and available for a full-time (40h / week) 6-month co-op between January - June 2025
- Graduation is December 2025 or later
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with quality tools and concepts including 8D, SPC, MSA, Six Sigma, FMEA
- Previous undergraduate or graduate level course work in Quality/Reliability engineering and statistics
- Working understanding of bench top instruments and familiarity with schematics
- Proficiency with PTC Windchill Quality solutions, Reliasoft Synthesis platform tools, SQL, AutoCAD, Agile PLM, MS Project, Visio, Tableau
