Application Engineer III

The Books team at Amazon is its oldest business, and Kindle has been leading the digital transformation of this centuries-old industry.

The KNFE team within Amazon Books is engaged in thinking and building features for Kindle to make reading a delightful and differentiated experience. Our team owns key customer-facing features like X-Ray, Notes/Highlights, Popular highlights, Search inside a book, PhotoQuotes, and many more. We own these features end-to-end, responsible for the backend micro-service architecture, the ML that powers these features, and the seamless CX on iOS, Android, and E-reader.

Key job responsibilities:

• Perform software deployments, support operations, software upgrades, and migrations
• Support and enable faster software delivery by maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automating them
• Utilize knowledge of Java and Python scripting languages
• Troubleshoot, debug, evaluate, and resolve identified alarms
• Problem-solving and passion for operational excellence
• Prioritize and follow-through with detail-orientation independently
• Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills

We're looking for someone with 2+ years of software development or technical support experience, experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems, experience in Unix, and experience scripting in modern programming languages. Preferred qualifications include experience with REST web services, XML, JSON, knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development.
