Description For Applied Scientist, NOSO Science

Amazon Supply Chain is seeking an exceptional Applied Scientist to join their SC Science Optimization team, focusing on complex optimization and forecasting challenges across EU/NA fulfillment networks. This role combines cutting-edge science with practical business impact, requiring expertise in stochastic optimization and probabilistic forecasting. You'll work on optimizing the supply chain from suppliers to customers, developing and deploying robust scientific solutions using Operations Research and Machine Learning algorithms.

The position offers unique opportunities to influence Amazon's global supply chain operations, working closely with Supply Chain Optimization Technology teams, the worldwide scientific community, and internal EU stakeholders. You'll tackle challenges in an ever-changing operational environment, requiring both strategic thinking and tactical execution.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical/scientific background, proven experience in delivering complex projects, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams. You'll be responsible for developing scalable solutions that address real-world uncertainty in customer demand and supply chain operations.

Responsibilities For Applied Scientist, NOSO Science

  • Build state-of-the art Stochastic Optimization and Probabilistic Forecasting algorithms
  • Design and engineer algorithms using Cloud-based software development techniques
  • Develop long term solutions while delivering incremental improvements
  • Prototype and ensure early adoption via pilots
  • Lead complex analysis and communicate results to leadership
  • Partner with internal customers and understand their needs
  • Research and publish OR/ML techniques internally/externally

Requirements For Applied Scientist, NOSO Science

Python
Java
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
  • Experience with SQL and RDBMS (e.g., Oracle) or Data Warehouse
  • Experience implementing algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code
  • Background in stochastic optimization and probabilistic forecasting
  • Experience delivering complex scientific projects end-to-end
