Description For Automation Engineer

Amazon is seeking an Automation Engineer to join their operations team in Passo Corese, Italy. As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of automated systems within Amazon's facilities. The role involves monitoring and optimizing material handling equipment, troubleshooting complex systems, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

You will work with cutting-edge automation technologies, including conveyor systems, sorting equipment, and PLC-based control systems. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining and improving the efficiency of these systems to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time. You'll collaborate with a European network of controls teams and multiple departments to implement best practices and maintain system documentation.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in industrial automation, experience with PLC programming and control systems, and the ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings. You'll need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, solving complex problems, and training technical engineers on preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.

Responsibilities For Automation Engineer

  • Monitor main systems, identifying and resolving problems and critical issues
  • Collaborate with European control network to monitor material handling equipment metrics
  • Provide internal stakeholders with graphical representations of problem-solving data
  • Oversee continuous improvement projects within the European control network
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure proper system documentation
  • Work with global teams to install and commission new equipment
  • Interpret mechanical drawings and electrical systems
  • Ensure programming compliance with IEC 61131-3 standard

Requirements For Automation Engineer

Linux
  • High school diploma
  • Extensive experience with PLC-based control systems automation
  • Experience with conveyor belts and sorting systems
  • Experience in material handling and flow visualization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools
  • Experience with Siemens, Allen-Brady or Codesys PLC programming
  • Knowledge of EthernetIP, Profinet, Profibus, AS-i or other fieldbus networks
  • Advanced knowledge of English and Italian languages
