Description For Business Intelligence Engineer

Amazon's Delivery Experience (DEX) team is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to drive data-driven decisions for their Convenience programs, including Amazon Day and Scheduled Delivery. This role combines customer impact with retail innovation, solving significant technical challenges in the delivery space. You'll be responsible for developing tools and mechanisms to power insights about customers and programs, focusing on delivery performance and precision metrics.

As a BIE, you'll work with complex datasets to chart the future of DEX's Convenience programs, ensuring that feature launches are backed by accurate data analysis. You'll set the standard for analytics, insights, and experiment design, helping product and technical teams make informed decisions for customer satisfaction and program success. The role requires expertise in data warehousing, ETL processes, and statistical analysis, using tools like SQL, Python, and various visualization platforms.

The ideal candidate will possess high standards for data quality and insights, with a natural ability to prioritize and dive deep into complex problems. You'll be working with large-scale datasets, building scalable solutions, and creating self-serve platforms that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. This position offers competitive compensation based on location and experience, ranging from $89,600 to $185,000 per year, plus additional benefits including equity and comprehensive medical coverage.

Responsibilities For Business Intelligence Engineer

  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing performance metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards
  • Apply analytics and data mining techniques to solve complex problems and drive business decisions
  • Design and architect data pipelines and data models
  • Build scalable solutions / self-serve platforms for data/KPIs
  • Build various data visualizations to tell the story
  • Proactively develop new metrics and studies to quantify customer behavior
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and integrate data sources
  • Continually improve recurring reporting and analysis processes

Requirements For Business Intelligence Engineer

Python
  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL experience
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
