Description For Chief Engineer

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to join their Data Center Engineering Operations Team. This critical role involves maintaining and managing the physical infrastructure that powers Amazon Web Services globally. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who will ensure 100% availability of data center MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems while delivering exceptional customer service.

The Chief Engineer serves as the technical expert responsible for all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment operations within the data center. They will lead a team of Engineering Operations Technicians, manage vendor relationships, and ensure peak efficiency of all critical systems. The role involves both planned maintenance and emergency response capabilities.

  • Management and leadership of DCEO Engineering Team
  • Establish performance benchmarks and prepare reports on facility operations
  • On-site management of shift technicians and contractors
  • Oversee critical systems operations (switchgear, generators, UPS, cooling systems)
  • Data Center capacity planning and reporting
  • Coordinate projects with IT managers and business leaders

Requirements For Chief Engineer

Linux
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or critical environment
  • 4+ years of Facilities Management Experience
