Description For Cloud Support Engineer (Database)

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Cloud Support Engineer (Database) to join their team. As a member of the AWS Support team, you'll be at the forefront of transformational cloud technology, assisting a global list of companies and developers in leveraging AWS services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Solving customer cases through various contact channels (phone, email, web/live chat)
  • Applying advanced troubleshooting techniques to provide tailored solutions
  • Diving deep into root causes of issues
  • Coaching/mentoring new hires
  • Developing and presenting training
  • Partnering with development teams on complex issues
  • Writing tools/scripts to help the team
  • Working on process improvement and strategic initiatives

The role requires:

  • Flexibility to work 5 days a week (occasionally on weekends) on a rotational basis
  • Night shift work (7 PM to 4 AM IST or 11 PM to 8 AM IST)
  • Extensive knowledge of database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
  • Experience with database performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with NoSQL technologies (DynamoDB, Redis, MongoDB, Cassandra, or Riak)
  • Strong Linux/Windows system administration skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills

  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience in a technical position
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in a technical position
  • Experience with Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server
  • DB performance tuning and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience setting up monitoring/alarming for production DB environments
  • Some experience with NoSQL technologies (DynamoDB, Redis, MongoDB, Cassandra, or Riak)
  • Linux/Windows system administration fundamentals
  • Experience with Linux/Windows system monitoring and analysis
  • Good understanding of distributed computing environments
  • Good understanding of DNS, TCP/IP protocols
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with customer service experience
  • Self-starter excited about learning new technologies
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken)
