AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. As a Cloud Support Engineer (Database) at Amazon Web Services, you will be at the forefront of transformational cloud technology, assisting a global list of companies and developers in leveraging AWS services for their mission-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a 'Cloud Ambassador' across all cloud products
- Solve customer cases through various contact channels (telephone, email, web/live chat)
- Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to provide tailored solutions
- Coach/mentor new hires and develop & present training
- Partner with development teams on complex issues
- Write tools/scripts to help the team
- Work on process improvement and strategic initiatives
The role requires:
- Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience in a technical position (minimum 2+ years)
- Expertise in database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
- Experience with DB performance tuning, troubleshooting, and monitoring
- Knowledge of NoSQL technologies (DynamoDB, Redis, MongoDB, Cassandra, Riak)
- Linux/Windows system administration fundamentals
- Understanding of distributed computing environments
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills and customer focus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with query analyzers and query tuning
- Exposure to Virtualization (VMware, Xen, Hypervisor)
- Prior working experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, RDS, DynamoDB, EMR)
- Understanding of security concepts and best practices
- Experience in managing full application stacks
