Description For Colocation Engineer, Colo Regional Engineering

Amazon is seeking a Colocation Engineer to join their AWS Data Centers team in a crucial role that supports their vision of being the world's most customer-centric company. As a Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in providing comprehensive life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers, from initial design through maintenance and improvements. The role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, requiring you to serve as the primary engineering resource for your region.

Your responsibilities will span across multiple critical areas, including design reviews for new data centers, troubleshooting and root cause analysis, operational support, and leading upgrade initiatives to enhance capacity and efficiency. You'll work closely with diverse teams, including data center design engineering, server hardware, and environmental health and safety teams, to maintain consistency and reliability in service delivery.

The ideal candidate brings strong engineering judgment, project management experience, and the ability to thrive in a detail-oriented environment. With 6+ years of experience in mission-critical facilities, you'll be expected to handle multiple concurrent projects, sometimes across different geographical regions. Responsibilities For Colocation Engineer, Colo Regional Engineering

  • Provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance
  • Perform design and equipment submittal review for new Data Centers
  • Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action documentation
  • Support operational issues with training and procedure reviews
  • Own design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions
  • Lead, Review, and approve designs for existing co-location data center upgrades
  • Interface with internal teams to promote standards
  • Initiate and lead engineering site audits
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects

Requirements For Colocation Engineer, Colo Regional Engineering

Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Structural Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities
  • Experience with data centers, power generation, or oil/gas facilities
  • Strong Engineering Judgement
  • Detail and data oriented
  • Experience managing engineering projects and consultants
  • Ability to build trust and relationships with different stakeholders
