Description For Commissioning Engineer

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE) to join their team responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. This role is crucial in maintaining AWS's cloud infrastructure, working with data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. The position requires extensive travel (up to 80%) and involves working with diverse teams across AWS.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, with the ability to review design documents, lead Factory Witness Testing, and manage third-party commissioning vendors. They will be responsible for testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure, ensuring compliance with quality and safety requirements.

Responsibilities For Commissioning Engineer

  • Review design documents and lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT)
  • Manage third-party commissioning vendors
  • Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center infrastructure
  • Review component submittal packages
  • Perform system level and integrated system testing
  • Audit activities for compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements
  • Comprehensive weekly reporting of project status
  • Coordinate site activities across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams

Requirements For Commissioning Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or 5 years of relevant discipline work experience
  • 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems
  • High technical competency in mechanical, electrical, or control systems
  • Ability to review and understand design documentation
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestic and internationally for up to 80% of the year
  • Physical ability to walk job sites, work at heights, lift up to 49 pounds
