Description For Commissioning Engineer

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Commissioning Engineer to join their team responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. This role is crucial in maintaining AWS data centers and ensuring continuous cloud operations. The position involves working with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, focusing on critical infrastructure commissioning.

As a Commissioning Engineer, you'll be responsible for testing and validating AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. Key responsibilities include reviewing design documents, leading Factory Witness Testing, managing third-party vendors, and ensuring quality control. The role requires extensive travel (up to 80%) and hands-on work with various systems including power systems, generators, HVAC, and building management systems.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in engineering, installation, or commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems. A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience is required. The position demands strong technical competency, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in high-stress environments.

Responsibilities For Commissioning Engineer

  • Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure
  • Review design documents and lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT)
  • Manage third-party commissioning vendors
  • Review component submittal packages
  • Perform system level and integrated system testing
  • Provide comprehensive weekly reporting
  • Coordinate site activities and prioritize tasks
  • Travel domestic and internationally up to 80% of the year

Requirements For Commissioning Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or 5 years of relevant discipline work experience
  • 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems
  • High technical competency in mechanical, electrical, or control systems
  • Ability to review mechanical or electrical design documentation
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in high stress environments
  • Physical ability to walk job sites, work at heights, lift up to 49 pounds
