Amazon Japan is seeking a Construction Associate for their Retrofit Engineering team within JCFS (Japan Customer Fulfillment Services). This role focuses on managing the renovation and construction projects at existing fulfillment centers and sort centers. The position involves overseeing Material Handling Equipment (MHE) implementation to achieve Amazon's rapid delivery capabilities.
The role combines technical engineering expertise with project management skills, requiring close coordination with various stakeholders including vendors, internal teams, and global engineering groups. You'll be responsible for managing construction schedules, ensuring quality control, maintaining safety standards, and handling budget management for large-scale renovation projects.
Working in a flexible environment, you'll be part of a 3-4 person engineering team managing projects that typically run from 10 months to 2 years. During construction phases, you'll be based near the fulfillment centers, with early morning site visits being common. The position offers flexible working hours to accommodate personal circumstances while ensuring project deliverables are met.

Responsibilities For Construction Associate, Retrofit Engineering, JCFS
- Manage construction schedules and ensure work progresses according to plan
- Create and manage construction maps showing time and space requirements
- Coordinate between multiple vendors and conduct daily progress meetings
- Perform quality control checks on vendor work
- Ensure workplace safety and conduct safety briefings
- Manage construction costs and procurement
- Handle equipment management and maintenance planning
- Coordinate with global engineering teams to implement advanced processes
Requirements For Construction Associate, Retrofit Engineering, JCFS
- Experience in logistics (MHE/Storage/Automation) or manufacturing equipment setup and maintenance
- Proven track record of successful project coordination with internal teams and external vendors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for data analysis and technical report creation
- CAD layout design experience preferred
- Bilingual communication skills in Japanese and English (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work in diverse teams and contribute to an inclusive culture
