This role within the AWS North and South America Cost Control team focuses on supporting data center construction projects. As a Construction Cost Engineer, you'll be integral to maintaining cost efficiency and control across multiple construction projects.

The position combines technical expertise in construction cost management with strategic thinking and analytical skills. You'll work with diverse teams across AWS, managing everything from bid analysis to final payments, while ensuring projects meet AWS's high standards for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Responsibilities For Construction Cost Engineer, North and South America Cost Control

  • Utilize tools and templates for bid analysis and cost management
  • Engage and manage third party Quantity Surveyor vendors
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams on a global scale
  • Identify Value Engineering opportunities and quantify savings
  • Identify project risks and financial cost impacts
  • Update repository for historical data
  • Define and track cost performance metrics
  • Analyze Construction vendor proposals using AWS benchmark data
  • Create accurate bid leveling documents
  • Validate final award amount and scope
  • Implement and maintain cost control and change management
  • Validate change cost impacts
  • Ensure vendor invoices accuracy and timeliness
  • Support project close-out and final payments

Requirements For Construction Cost Engineer, North and South America Cost Control

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in construction cost control
  • 2+ years of experience with Data Center or mission critical construction environments
  • 2+ years of experience as a program manager
  • Experience with estimating software (CostX, Cubit, Onscreen takeoff, Timberline and Bluebeam)
  • MS Office Suite power user skills
