Description For Construction Manager, AMER Central Construction

As a Data Center Construction Manager, you'll join an elite team that keeps the cloud running, managing the construction of industry-leading data centers that directly support AWS customers.

The role combines technical expertise with project management, requiring you to oversee complex construction projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. You'll serve as Amazon's owner's representative on construction sites, driving cost efficiency, maintaining schedules, and ensuring quality standards while managing various contractors and vendors.

Responsibilities For Construction Manager, AMER Central Construction

  • Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and project closeout phases
  • Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals
  • Create construction project scope and request for proposals
  • Financial analysis of construction
  • Construction project management for data center initiatives
  • Constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs
  • Construction document management
  • Construction project quality control
  • Record and report key construction metrics
  • Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis
  • Define data center system-level architecture

Requirements For Construction Manager, AMER Central Construction

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent engineering science OR 6+ years of related construction management experience
  • 6+ years of experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving MEP plants
  • 6+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience
  • 6+ years of experience constructing electrical engineering systems
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
