Description For Construction Manager, AMER Central Construction

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Construction Manager to join their team responsible for keeping the cloud running. This role involves managing the construction of Amazon's industry-leading data centers, working alongside Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning teams. You'll be responsible for building some of the most interesting electrical and mechanical systems globally, serving as Amazon's owner's representative on construction sites.

The position requires deep expertise in construction management, particularly in large-scale MEP projects. You'll oversee project scope, quality, schedule, and budget while managing construction vendors and contractors. This role combines technical knowledge with leadership skills, requiring understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles, construction management, and vendor relations.

Responsibilities For Construction Manager, AMER Central Construction

  • Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and project closeout phases
  • Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals
  • Create construction project scope and request for proposals
  • Financial analysis of construction
  • Construction project management for data center initiatives
  • Constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs
  • Construction document management including submittal review, RFI's, change orders, and invoicing
  • Construction project quality control
  • Record and report key construction metrics
  • Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis

Requirements For Construction Manager, AMER Central Construction

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent engineering science OR 6+ years of related construction management experience
  • 6+ years of experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) plants
  • 6+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience
  • 6+ years of experience constructing electrical engineering systems
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA
  • Experience with power management and power monitoring systems
