As a Data Center Construction Manager, you'll join an elite team that keeps the cloud running, managing the construction of industry-leading data centers that directly support AWS customers worldwide.
In this role, you'll oversee some of the most sophisticated electrical and mechanical systems globally, serving as Amazon's owner's representative on construction sites. You'll be responsible for driving cost efficiency, maintaining schedules, and ensuring quality while managing construction vendors and contractors. The position offers a unique opportunity to work with diverse teams, including Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning.
The ideal candidate brings 6+ years of construction management experience, particularly in large-scale MEP projects. You'll need strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, excellent project management skills, and the ability to lead complex initiatives. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, requiring someone who can manage multiple stakeholders while maintaining focus on AWS's commitment to customer satisfaction and innovation.

Responsibilities For Construction Manager, AMER Central Construction
- Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and project closeout phases
- Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals
- Create construction project scope and request for proposals
- Construction project management for data center initiatives
- Constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs
- Construction document management including submittal review, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing
- Record and report key construction metrics
- Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis
- Define data center system-level architecture and create/maintain project documentation
Requirements For Construction Manager, AMER Central Construction
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent engineering science OR 6+ years of related construction management experience
- 6+ years of experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) plants
- 6+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience
- 6+ years of experience constructing electrical engineering systems
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
