AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Construction Manager to join their team responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role is crucial in keeping the cloud running by managing the construction of Amazon's industry-leading data centers. As a Construction Manager, you'll oversee complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, working alongside Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning teams.
The position requires strong leadership skills and technical expertise in construction management, particularly in data center infrastructure. You'll be responsible for driving cost efficiency, maintaining schedules, and ensuring quality while managing construction vendors and contractors. Responsibilities For Construction Manager, AMER Central Construction
- Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and project closeout phases
- Conduct negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals
- Create construction project scope and request for proposals
- Construction project management and quality control
- Record and report key construction metrics
- Drive teams to perform troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis
- Define data center system-level architecture and create/maintain project documentation
- Construction document management including submittal review, RFI's, change orders, and invoicing
Requirements For Construction Manager, AMER Central Construction
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent engineering science OR 6+ years of related construction management experience
- 6+ years of experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) plants
- 6+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience
- 6+ years of experience constructing electrical engineering systems
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA
