AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As a Data Center Construction Manager, you will be part of a creative, diverse team tasked with solving fascinating problems constructing Amazon Data Centers. You will be responsible for construction project management and oversight of construction-related activities for new builds or general capital projects, including ownership of project scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
Key responsibilities include:
- Interfacing with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and project closeout phases
- Conducting negotiations and evaluating bids/proposals
- Creating construction project scopes and requests for proposals
- Financial analysis of construction
- Construction project management for initiatives aimed at increasing data center resiliency
- Constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs
- Construction document management
- Quality control and reporting of key construction metrics
- Troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis
- Leadership within the group and with internal/external teams
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, electrical and mechanical engineering principles, and experience with large-scale technical operations or compute farms. Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and certifications such as PE, LEED, or CCM is beneficial.

Responsibilities For Construction Manager, AMER Central Construction
- Direct interface with construction general contractors during project phases
- Conduct negotiations and evaluate bids/proposals
- Create construction project scopes and requests for proposals
- Perform financial analysis of construction
- Manage construction projects for data center resiliency initiatives
- Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs
- Manage construction documents including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing
- Ensure construction project quality control
- Record and report key construction metrics
- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis
- Provide leadership within the group and with internal/external teams
- Define data center system-level architecture and create/maintain project documentation
Requirements For Construction Manager, AMER Central Construction
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent engineering science OR 6+ years of related construction management experience
- 6+ years of experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) plants
- 6+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience
- 6+ years of experience constructing electrical engineering systems and mechanical engineering systems
- Understanding of electrical engineering principles including switch gear, UPS, transformers, and circuit breakers
- Understanding of mechanical engineering principles for cooling systems
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to use data to justify conclusions
