Amazon's Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to play a crucial role in maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in their fulfillment centers. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, focusing on automation and controls systems for material handling equipment.

The role involves working with cutting-edge technology including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and SCADA systems. You'll be responsible for troubleshooting complex control systems, analyzing performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires collaboration with multiple teams including Operations, Engineering, and Safety to optimize systems and implement innovative projects.

As a Control Systems Engineer, you'll serve as a technical leader, mentoring technicians while providing crucial support for system operations. You'll be involved in both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic projects, working with various industrial control systems including PLCs, industrial networks, and automated equipment.

Responsibilities For Control Systems Engineer I, RME

  • Coordinate and plan work activities for Control Systems Techs/Leads
  • Troubleshoot material handling control systems including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks
  • Monitor MHE metrics and analyze system performance issues
  • Provide first level escalation support for Control Systems Techs/Leads
  • Mentor Control System Technicians and Control System Leads
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes
  • Partner with Operations leadership and vendors for new technology installations
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments
  • Communicate technical issues and project timelines with stakeholders

Requirements For Control Systems Engineer I, RME

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent, or 5+ years of professional/military experience
  • Experience in PLC based controls design, development, implementation and support
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Experience with electrical theory, robotics, controls components and automated equipment
  • Experience with HMI and control network components
  • Industrial electrical hands-on experience with 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems
  • Experience with SCADA systems and KPIs
  • Experience with programming software like RSLogix5000 studio, FT View
